Luis co-founded Shorepoint Capital Partners LLC in 2009 and has over 30 years of financial services experience. As Chief Investment Officer, he oversees our in-house research and investment management process, works with individuals and families to develop goals-based wealth management plans, and manages customized Capital Appreciation and Dividend Growth investment strategies. He also manages private income investments for Accredited Investors and Qualified Clients. In addition, Luis advises business owners, foundations and endowments, and corporate and nonprofit clients on their 401(k), defined benefit and other retirement plans.
Luis has been recognized as a Five Star Wealth Manager by Boston Magazine and Five Star Professional for 10 consecutive years.
Professional Experience and Education
Luis has extensive institutional investment management, and research and client management experience. As a portfolio manager at Choate Investment Advisors, he managed $400 million in client assets, as well as the firm’s Core Equity Model. Prior to that, he was Vice President, Portfolio Manager and Director of Equity Research, and lead manager for Gannett, Welsh and Kotlers’ Large-Cap Growth Strategy and the GWK Large-Cap Growth Fund.
Luis also served as Director, Equity Research, for Fidelity Investments’ investment advisory affiliate, where he performed fundamental equity research and managed a Large-Cap Growth portfolio.
The Wall Street Transcript has interviewed Luis about Shorepoint’s investment philosophy and our Dividend Growth and Capital Appreciation strategies. He was also featured in the January 2014 issue of The Suit online magazine article, “Singles and Doubles for Rounding the Financial Diamond.”
Luis is a CFA charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society.
He earned an MBA from Suffolk University, where he was a member of Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society. He holds a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts.
Board Memberships and Nonprofit Work
Luis serves as a Board Member for both Fancypants Baking Co. and Tucson Tamale Co and has a Board Observer role for Smash Foods and advisor to Demers Food Group. He served on the St. Catherine Siena School and Parish Finance Committee for six years.
Fun Facts
Luis is a personal investor in private equity, real estate and food-related companies. He’s also an avid football fan, loves travel and fine wine, and enjoys hiking and cycling. Luis lives in Sharon, MA, and he is the father of two sons.
